A private guided walk in the Yorkshire Dales, with pick-up from your York hotel.
From £395 per group
Spend a day in the Yorkshire Dales without needing a car. We pick you up from your hotel in central York, drive you to Malham in a comfortable private vehicle and walk with you to three of the best known sights in the Dales: Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove.
The walk is private, just for your group, and led by an experienced local guide. Afterwards we stop at a cosy country pub for food and drinks, then drive you back to York.
Shorter and longer versions are available on request.
Janet's Foss is a waterfall in woodland, dropping into a clear pool. Local tradition says Janet, queen of the fairies, lived in a cave behind the falls.
Gordale Scar is a dramatic limestone gorge, where waterfalls pour between overhanging cliffs.
Malham Cove is a huge curved limestone cliff. On top is a wide limestone pavement, its blocks and deep cracks shaped by rainwater. You may recognise it: the pavement appears in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
Malham is about an hour and a quarter's drive from York. Without a car, it means trains and buses with changes, and buses to Malham do not run often. With hotel pick-up, we simply collect you in York and drive you there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our hike between Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay with Ryan. He made organising the walk very easy with his prompt, informative communications, and we got started right on time. Ryan’s knowledge of the countryside and its history was very comprehensive, and we ended up hiking while having a fun, in-depth discussion of English history as well as foraging, camping and language topics. The walk itself was a lovely, well-chosen track and we got lucky with the unpredictable October weather. Overall, a highly recommended experience.

Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay walk
It was so much more than just a hike. I learned practical map-reading skills, how to take and use coordinates, and gained a real insight into the nature, history and landscape of the area. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly and made the whole experience really enjoyable, with plenty of interesting facts and stories along the way. A brilliant mix of adventure, learning and enjoying the outdoors.
